Even though the rainy season is upon us, this is the most beautiful time in Tropics to visit the local waterfalls and Cape Tribulation. The rain-forest is an absolute treat in the wet, engaging all the senses… A feast for the eyes as the wet highlights the beautiful reds in the barks of the trees, listening to the waterfalls flowing in full force,  enticing the frogs to sing all day and night – a chorus of white lipped green tree frogs calling each other from pristine springs… The sounds of the forest makes you feel relaxed as you stroll your way through the winding paths, the soft forest floor beneath your feet, soon to reach the ultimate destination of the clearest swimming holes you have ever seen… Ahhhh, the glory of tropical rain-forests!

There is so much to do here in the wet season, tourism in Cairns is equipped for all weather conditions. Who can get the muddiest on the ATV’s? Who gets dunked on a wet day at the Bunjy site? ‘Bunjy when wet’ is the latest craze – if you aren’t sure about leaping off a perfectly sturdy platform, plummeting your way 55 meters toward the water below – watch one of the locals do it – they are a perfectly crazy bunch here in Cairns, ready for anything and the first to line up for a Sunday Session at the Bunjy site. There’s always a great DJ or band to shake up your Sunday and the bar is always open serving afternoon delights into the night.

Plenty to do in the wettest months, so make the most of the rain while its here! Won’t be long til its blue skies and crisp mornings – you can giggle at the locals who can’t wait to get their jacket and jeans out for the one or two days a year that get (what we call) cold!

So whether it’s the liquid sunshine, or golden rays of sunshine that draws you to the North, there’s always something to do here in the beautiful, most amazing  tropical north (if we do say so ourselves!)
